507 Wine Bar is housed in a beautifully renovated two-storey house on 10th Street S.W. between 5th and 6th Avenues. The building features tall smoked glass windows on both floors. The dining room is on the main floor and the lounge is above, both very tastefully appointed. There is a river rock fireplace on the upper level, lending it a cozy atmosphere. The service is friendly and efficient, and the wine list is extensive. Wines are sold by the glass or the bottle. The menu matches the stunning decor.
To start, you can order fresh shucked oysters with smoked pepper mignonete and grated horseradish. Or, you might like to try the steamed PEI mussels in lemon preserve and kalamata olive broth. If you are having trouble deciding, consider the scallop trio. It has one smoked scallop with roasted shallot chutney, one butter poached scallop with strawberry lime coulis, and one pancetta-wrapped scallop with a port reduction. And that is just the start of this carefully planned menu!
High Quality Entrees
As a main course, you might order a pan-fried gnocchi with spinach and roasted red pepper in a vodka dill and chevre cream sauce. Or, perhaps a seafood papardelle with prawns, scallops and mussels in a fennel and saffron cream sauce. Maybe smoked arctic char marinated in lemon and sage, with a white wine beurre blanc and brown butter gnocchi. For meat lovers, there is a seared diamond willow organic beef tenderloin topped with foie gras and a pinot noir demi glace on cambozola mashed potatoes, or braised lamb shank with rosemary jus on a butternut squash and smoked cheddar risotto cake. It’s a beautiful restaurant serving even more beautiful food. Enjoy and bon appetite!
