For the Love of Arts
Alberta Ballet was founded in Edmonton, Alberta in 1966. In 1990, Alberta Ballet initiated discussions with Calgary City Ballet and the two companies successfully merged. The new company relocated its core functions and 18 dancers to the historic Nat Christie Centre in the heart of Calgary. Now each year they present fantastic performances from September to May.

That Was Then...
Today, the company has grown, with more professional dancers who perform in Calgary, and on tour in communities throughout Canada and all over the world as well. Alberta Ballet is a dynamic member of the Canadian cultural community and distinguishes itself through superb performance of acclaimed ballets and commissioned works based on the traditions of classical ballet. It is a not-for-profit charitable organization that helps keep the important art of dance alive.

A School Too
The Ballet School was established in 1991 and has two divisions. The Regular Division promotes physical health, discipline and the love of the arts. The Professional Division has a curriculum that creates a foundation for a career in dance. It has an enrollment of 500 plus students and even offers summer programs as well.
