Alberta Cheese Company is a family-owned business that has been around since the 1970s. While most of its market base is larger foodservice firms across western Canada, local Calgarians are more than welcome to buy cheese from the small storefront attached to their factory. First-time customers may be intimidated as they pull up to the large, industrial building, but will be instantly put at ease as they enter the clean, modern storefront.

The Alberta Cheese Company specializes in traditional, handmade Italian cheeses, such as mozzarella, ricotta, provolone and parmesan. Also available are familiar favourites like cheddar, marble, feta, camembert and brie. For those with more adventurous taste buds, there is a selection of flavoured havarti, including jalapeño and tomato-basil.
Italian Influence
Aside from cheese, the store also carries a variety of Italian foods. Next to the cheese case, customers can choose from many different Italian sausages. There is also a small shelf of non-perishable Italian staples such as olive oil, espresso and canned tomatoes.

Tip: During Christmas, call in advance if you are after a particular cheese. The shop is extremely busy and they often sell out during the holiday seasons.
