Alloy’s owners know that once the workday is over, most Calgarians can’t wait to desert their high-rises for the less-harried pace of the surrounding areas. Most of the downtown working population lives outside of the core, and as they stream out there is usually one thought first and foremost on everyone’s minds. Food. Luckily, Alloy is located in an easy-to-get-to spot from both the major routes of MacLeod Trail and Blackfoot Trail, and is just a short walk from the 39 Avenue LRT stop.
Expand Your Culinary Horizons
Open for lunch and dinner, Alloy’s menu is a refreshing change from Calgary’s numerous steak-and-potato joints. Alberta is about more than just beef, and Alloy’s main dinner courses include lamb, chicken, pork, duck, monkfish and seafood options. All are combined with original choices of ingredients, transforming the expected into a wonderful surprise. The pork tenderloin is rubbed with spicy ancho chilli, the seared duck is grilled with peach relish and the roast chicken is wrapped in a crunchy papadam. Even the obligatory beef dishes seem deliciously new. Served with warm garlic baby potato salad, the juicy beef tenderloin comes crusted with togarashi, and the beef short rib is braised with red curry and served with a purple yam purée. Hungry yet?
Try Out a Different Tipple
Alloy’s drink menu is thick, ensuring there’s something for everyone in the well-stocked cellar. Along with an impressive selection of champagnes, wines of all vintages and bodies are available by the bottle or by the glass, and well-and-lesser known beers from around the world are featured. The best examples of fine spirits are represented as well. For a singular dining experience, reserve ahead for the Chef’s Table, where groups numbering from three to 10 people may enjoy a personalized menu and the devoted attention of the staff. Online reservations are available.
