Cocktails & A Horn Dog
What better place for designer drinks than in Calgary’s design district? This upscale and modern bar, in the home of a former brew pub, opened in March of 2006. Amsterdam Rhino seeks to whet Calgarians’ whistles with more than ales and lagers. They’ve declared themselves the home of the cocktail and have an international award-winning bartender to back up their claim. They also have special Rhino Beers like ‘Horn Dog’ & ‘Dam Rhino’.
A Patio Party
They pride themselves on only using fresh fruit and juices in all their drinks and only use premium liquors in the cocktails. Their menu takes a cue from their co-owned French bistro next door, serving soups, salads and mains like bacon-wrapped salmon for reasonable prices. For those seeking out a patio on those warm February days when a Chinook rolls over the mountains, Amsterdam Rhino has a year-round outdoor seating area, which also offers an escape from the smoke-friendly interior.
