Pregnancy Care
Open since September 2008, Aurora Midwifery has two locations to meet your pregnancy needs. There is a home office in Douglasdale in the southwest, and the birth centre is located near Foothills Hospital in the northwest. Arrange for a “meet and greet” appointment to determine if midwifery care is your best option. As of April 01, 2009, midwifery services will be fully funded through Alberta Health and Wellness. Consult the government website for complete details.
Pre-Conception
Initially consisting of an hour long session with a midwife, topics to be covered will include diet, lifestyle, and physical exam, if required. Personal and family history will be reviewed and referrals will be made if necessary. Along with two take home pregnancy tests, patrons will be introduced to fertility awareness and early pregnancy care options.
Midwifery
Comprehensive care from conception to six weeks postpartum is available at a package rate. Services include 24 hour pager contact, prenatal care (10-13 visits), lab work and ultrasound referrals, access to a lending library and labour and birth care in your home, hospital or birth centre location. Other services include post-natal home and clinic visits, breast feeding support and referrals to other medical professionals when necessary.
