Located just one hour west of Calgary, this sprawling 40,000-acre ranch is not just a resort — it’s a real working ranch. While guests enjoy beautiful accommodations and picturesque views, cowboys are busy checking cattle, tending horses and mending fences. This is a wonderful way to sample authentic ranch life without having to rough it.
Sights and Scenes
Bar C has made a point of preserving the natural state of the foothills among which it lies, offering visitors a rare chance to experience nature at its finest. Guests are treated to serene surroundings featuring abundant wildlife and exquisite scenery. Activities such as wagon rides, back-pack trips, cattle drives, horse-riding and cowboy campfires round out the cultural experience. Those looking for other Rocky Mountain adventures are within range of spectacular hiking trails, rafting, mountain biking, fly fishing and some of the most pristine golf courses Alberta has to offer. Nightly entertainment includes country music, dancing, and cowboy games.
Accommodations
Bar C offers 34 private rustic cabins, nestled in the trees within walking distance of the main ranch resort. Cabins each have a bedroom, bathroom and cozy living room with a fireplace. Guests of Bar C are also offered alternate accommodations at an authentic Sioux TeePee Village. This overnight adventure is similar to a “camping experience”, involving sleeping bags on a foam pad and visits to a bathhouse. For dining, Bar C has a country-style restaurant and saloon, serving up hearty breakfasts, delicious home-cooked dinners, all with a side of western hospitality. Bar C is open year-round, with seasonal adventures and activities offered.
