Not in the boondocks
You’d think that a bar located in the outskirts of downtown Calgary would see slightly less action. Well, not so at Murdoch’s Bar and Grill. They reopened in January 2009, with an open concept interior, plenty of seating, and even a spot that they’ll readily clear for dancing when a live band is playing. Everything in this pub is made-in house, with most produce sourced locally.
Open jam Sundays
The sheer number of people of varying demographics who pass through Murdoch’s nightly gives away what must be a great selection of food on their menu. Their menu is quite progressive, with items ranging from comfort pub grub to entrees. Choose from gourmet Mac and Cheese, Fish and Chips, Smoked Chicken Penne, Cabbage rolls, ribs, lamb, and veggie options for vegetarians. This pub also has lunch and night time daily specials (Pizza nights on Mondays; Boneless Riblets on Tuesdays; Thai mussels on Wednesdays; Wings nights on Thursdays). Ask about their drink specials or come in for Saturday or Sunday brunch, and jam with them on Sunday afternoons.
