The secret's out
One Yellow Rabbit's Big Secret Theatre is hardly a secret at all to Calgary theatre-goers. It is tucked away on the second floor (centre court area) in the north-east corner of the EPCOR’s Centre for Performing Arts. The theatre seats 130 -245 people maximum, depending on the configuration for performances and events. It contains a cocktail bar, The Future Cocktail Lounge and a Lobby Box Office area. It has become the place for Calgary’s artistic social crowd to mix and mingle.
Venues
While the Big Secret Theatre is mainly home to One Yellow Rabbit’s performances, other independent theatre groups rent it as well. There is a small back stage and dressing rooms for production purposes. It can also be booked for hip events and parties.
Annual events
The theatre hosts One Yellow Rabbit’s Annual “Summer Lab Intensive” program in summer. Student artists including actors, writers, dancers, etc., can perfect their performance skills and creation techniques over a three-week period. Enrolment space is limited so book early to secure a spot. It is also home to the “Wine Stage”, held in early fall. Fine wines and culinary creations delight the palate and the senses while raising money for the arts. Advance ticket purchases are recommended as the event typically sells out early.
