Rich history
As part of the Indus Recreation Centre, the Bill Heron Arena is a complete community skating facility. The original rink was generously donated by Bill Heron in 1973. In the early 90s, the arena was rebuilt with the help of numerous volunteer fundraisers. In 1994, it reopened its doors to the community, with an arena that has the seating capacity for 200 spectators. Priority for ice time is given to existing users, special events, priority user groups, renewal groups, new public groups and on a first-come, first-serve basis thereafter. All times are available in 15 minute increments, with a minimum of one hour reservations necessary. Contact the arena for availability and pricing. Meeting rooms with chairs and tables can hold up to 58 people and are available for rent, as well.

For the community
The Indus Recreation Centre and Bill Heron Arena are located a short 10 minute trip from southeast Calgary. The recreation centre sports a number of other recreational facilities, as well as the ice surface. The banquet hall can seat up to 430 people or has room for 540 standing, and there are fully equipped kitchens and catering services available. It is suitable for weddings, showers, meetings and other get-togethers. This community facility also has two baseball diamonds, a curling club and a riding arena. Check out the number of community events, clubs and services that they make available to the public.
