Your eclectic entertainment tastes will soon be treated to a fascinating view of the world as told in film.
On the Shelves
They have a little bit of everything here. Shock yourself with some obscure Asian horror, or get engrossed in animation, science fiction and gangster films. If you prefer to live in the real world, they have a great selection of documentaries that will open your eyes without glossing over the important details. If you really want mainstream, they do have a few of those too.
Open every day of the year except for the 25th of December, the independently owned and operated Bird Dog Video also carries a large music selection and has a hefty director’s wall full of eclectic hits that are certain to stimulate the mind.
What’s a Bird Dog?
Store owners Jolie Bird and Greg Krausnick opened Bird Dog in 2004 to fill a void in the Calgary market. More a conversation piece than anything, Bird Dog carries Jolie’s last name, but the meaning ends there although some speculate the name Bird Dog represents a good place to hunt out hard to find videos. This little treasure in the heart of the city has been growing in popularity and has been voted “Best DVD Store” by Fast Forward readers. Stop by and check out the huge director’s wall or ask one of the knowledgeable staff to help you find a one of a kind.
