The Big Picture
The Black Diamond Hotel is a popular so-called ‘watering hole’ for many residents in Black Diamond and area. Established in 1929 amid a rampant oil boom, the hotel was built to accommodate the sudden influx of workers in the area, and to provide a friendly gathering place for the growing local population. Today, the Black Diamond Hotel is newly renovated, and still holds title as the largest building in the small Black Diamond downtown core. Renowned for its lively Saturday and Sunday afternoon jam sessions, the bar is frequented by regular ‘classic rock’ fans, and attracts plenty of motorcycle enthusiasts and city folk who enjoy the scenic drive and the small town spirit.
The Bar Scene
This place is definitely a step up from your typical small town hotel bar. Extensively renovated in 2001, the Black Diamond Bar boasts plenty of classy mahogany wood, two cozy fireplaces, 12 TVs, a games room with four pool tables and a jukebox with an eclectic mix of old and new rock. The bar offers a full menu, Video Lottery Terminals, live off track betting, and happy hour specials. On the weekends the hotel features live classic rock bands, and the bar is hopping with afternoon jam sessions.
