The big picture
Blu Seafood & Market was founded by Calgary Chef turned entrepreneur Brian Plunkett in July of 2008. The fresh-food market was created to offer Calgarians a unique experience that includes picking up fresh fish, shellfish, or a delicious chef-prepared meal, and taking it home to cook with your own special ingredients or simply heat and serve. The idea is perfect for active families, or for couples who enjoy delicious food without exhaustive preparation. It’s gourmet food to go.
What’s in store
When you drop by Blu Seafood, the first thing you notice is beautifully displayed food and a scrupulously clean shop. Inside the display coolers there is row upon row of perfectly filleted fresh fish and seafood, including salmon, halibut, tuna, orange roughy, swordfish steak, seabass, lobster, shrimp, clams, scallops, and the list goes on. If meat is more your thing, choose from lean certified pork, chicken, lamb or Angus beef. All meat and fish products come with cooking instructions, and the store also stocks a plethora of oils, spices and sauces guaranteed to finish the product to perfection. If the day calls for no cooking, choose from a tasty selection of ready-made meals, including fish, chicken and beef pies; beef lasagna, seafood mac & cheese, shepherd’s pie, seafood chowder, salmon patties, saffron rice, fresh baked bread, and more. Blu Seafood also offers a variety of hot and cold party platters.
