Originally a Restaurant
The owners of Boccalino Grotto originally opened a restaurant by that name in Canmore, and the operation prospered for over a decade. The house dressing used in the restaurant was the conception of the owners, and it proved to be immensely popular among the clientele. Patrons repeatedly requested the opportunity to purchase the dressing for home use, and to satisfy that demand a production facility was established. So popular was the dressing that the restaurant operation was eventually closed in favour of manufacturing and marketing the dressing. Thus Boccalino Grotto Fine Foods came into being.
The Products
There are now four European style pourable dressings made by Boccalino. They are all suitable for salads, toppings, sandwiches, dips and other uses. All are made with fresh ingredients in a government inspected facility in Canmore. No preservatives or MSG are used in the dressings, and no sugar is added. The original Swiss dressing has now been joined by Caesar dressing, fresh basil and garlic, and lemon pepper ranch dressing. All have unique flavours that enhance anything they are used on.

Boccalino Grotto dressings are available at many fine restaurants and hotels in southern Alberta. They can also be purchased from the refrigerated aisles of Keller Foods in Banff, Lina’s Italian Grocery Store in Calgary, Calgary Co-op stores, Sobeys and IGA stores in Alberta, Safeway stores in Alberta and B.C., and Sunterra stores in Calgary and Edmonton.
