Established in New Orleans in the late ‘70s under the entrepreneurship of Brad Harper, The Bombay Company began its operations as a mail-order company selling ready-to-assemble reproductions of traditional 18th and 19th century English furnishings. Although the company met with some success, by the end of the '70s the Bombay Company was running a deficit—that is, of course, before the Canadian businessman Robert Nourse stepped in! Nourse opened the first Canadian Bombay Company boutique in 1980. By 1990, more than 200 stores were in operation throughout North America. Selling an array of rustic, exotic and beautifully designed home decor items such as couches, lamps, baskets, mirrors, tables, beds, desks, ceramics, bookshelves and much, much more, The Bombay Company has become synonymous with luxury, style and elegance.
The Bombay Company is known for its classic and sophisticated furniture lines that feature quality woods, elegant lines, warm hues and soft fabrics. You’ll find pieces to furnish your bedroom, dining room, living room and office, as well as decorative pieces such as jewellery boxes decorated with artificial flowers, chandeliers made of clocks as well as dishes, linens and lamps.
The Bombay Company offers its clients an online catalogue and an interest-free credit system. Regular customers are privy to deals, special invitations and exclusive catalogues. Gift-giving is made easy at The Bombay Company, with hundreds of items such as jewel-encrusted perfume bottles, board games made of glass, porcelain vases, velvet cushions and more.
