Necessary Resource
Affordable housing has become a lean commodity in any big city, and you can be sure that homelessness isn’t far behind. To have a home is one of the cornerstones of a healthy life, and is something that many with shelter take for granted. The Calgary Homeless Foundation recognizes the need for adequate housing and helps those on the street with resources, programs and other tools that will help them regain independence.
Strong Community Support
Partnered with local and provincial government, service agencies, and the private sector, the Calgary Homeless Foundation has a wide array of resources at their disposal. Funding for housing projects is raised and put to use building affordable accommodation. The Foundation is supported by the Calgary community, and is sponsored by both the Calgary Chamber of Commerce and the United Way. With such reputable support, the Calgary Homeless Foundation has become a necessary, yet hopefully temporary, organization.
Information is Power
There is also a library at the Calgary Homeless Foundation that dispenses a variety of information on homeless issues and ways to solve or ease the problem. In effect, the Foundation works in collaboration with other agencies in the city – such as the Salvation Army and the Mustard Seed – in order to eradicate the reality of people sleeping on the streets.
