The Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra is considered one of the best and most versatile orchestras in Canada. There has been a symphony orchestra in Calgary since 1910. Interrupted by the two world wars, the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra was formed in 1955.
Jack Singer Concert Hall
The hall can accommodate just over 2000 guests, designed by Artec Consultants. The ambience and acoustics were designed to offer a complete live concert experience. It was created in an intimate rectangular form, which is supposed to produce the best quality sound. The lovely Oval Bar where patrons may buy drinks. The oval Bar also provides London Bar Service, where you may pre-order your drinks and have them ready for you at intermission. The Concert Hall also provides wheelchair amenities and services for disabilities.
New Classics
Each season the orchestra will be featured in Classics, Baroque, Light Classics, Pops and Young People's series. The Philharmonic performs to over 100,000 people, each season in Calgary and is the orchestra for the Calgary Opera and Alberta Ballet, as well as community and school concerts. The CPO has toured across western and central Canada and in the eastern United States, with a debut at Carnegie Hall. Extensive recordings and broadcasts have garnered international recognition.
