Landmarks, such as the Petro-Canada building and the highly-recognizable Calgary Tower, are key components of the downtown skyline, but don’t quite achieve Canada Olympic Park's elevated status.

The buzz
Canada’s Olympic Park's 90-metre ski jumping tower, overlooking 600 acres of year-round activities, events and a rich Olympic history, is one of the high points in Calgary. COP is operated by Winsport Canada, and is one of the city’s main supporters of amateur athletes

Where it's at
COP is not only one of Canada's most-popular tour destinations, but it also includes the world's largest Olympic Hall of Fame and Museum, and draws active Calgarians throughout the year to its sports facilities. COP played host to some of the bumpiest, fastest, high-flying events during the XV Olympic Winter Games in 1988. The world held its breath as competitors raced down its state-of-the-art bobsled and luge track. Hearts soared as jumpers sailed off the 90- 70- and 50-metre ski jumps and adrenaline flowed as freestyle skiers somersaulted, bounced and danced across the slopes at COP.

The skinny
Today, COP has evolved into a year-round sport and tourist facility. Adventurous souls can take a wild ride down record-breaking luge and bobsled tracks or the new skyline zipline, or simply get a bird's-eye view from the 90-metre ski jump. Calgarians continue to fine tune their skiing and snowboarding skills on the ski hill with help from one of Western Canada's largest ski and snowboard schools. When the snow melts, Calgarians kick up some sand on the beach volleyball court, swing into the softball season and pound the pedals on more than 25 kilometres of trails in the mountain bike park. They also host special events and weddings, and corporate teambuilding events. The Naturbahn teahouse has a popular and delicious Sunday brunch with a 360-degree view of the mountains and Calgary. The Olympic Hall of Fame & Museum is fun for all ages.
