The Canmore Nordic Centre was designed and developed specifically for the 1988 Winter Olympic Games. The most recent developments were made for the 2005 World Cup and other future international events. The Centre offers eye-popping, cross-country outings on over 60 kilometres of world-class cross-country and biathlon trail systems. The trails meet international competitive standards, with a variety of challenging terrain for skiers of intermediate or advanced skills, plus some novice trails as well.
Day or night
Cross-country trails are groomed and trackset to accommodate both classic and skating techniques. And if you want an extra challenge and the chance to enjoy some beautiful scenery under a moonlit sky, a 6.5 kilometre track is illuminated for night skiing. The Nordic Centre offers a day lodge with a relaxing atmosphere, enhanced by the large stone fireplace, comfortable seating, and picturesque window views of Mount Rundle.
Any season
Other services include a cafeteria, meeting rooms, maps and information, day lockers, showers, washrooms, equipment rentals, and lessons. If cross-country skiing isn't your cup of tea, the Nordic Centre is open during the summer months to explore on mountain bike, and the area offers a great observation base for spring and fall Golden Eagle migrations.
