As one should expect from a place called the Chuckwagon, this cafe and grill is done in a western diner motif, complete with a sign that encourages you to saunter on in, cowboy decoration, and lots of Stetsons and Resistols in evidence. This is not an espresso bar. It is a red barn that is serious about feeding hungry hands. The foothills scenery in the area makes it worth the trip; the food is a welcome bonus.
Breakfasts to Get You Going and Keep You Going
Mom always said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and the staff at the Chuckwagon take that admonition to heart. Here you get eggs, bacon, ham, sausage, toast, hash browns, and lots of hot coffee. Pancakes, French toast, and even tortillas are also to be had. If you are really hungry, add a steak to the eggs, and then figure out how you are going to get back on your horse. On weekends, Eggs Benedict with or without smoked salmon or a small tenderloin are on the breakfast menu, but you can explain that to your pony.
Hearty Lunches in the Western Mode
It should present no surprise that lunches here feature beef, all of which is raised on a nearby ranch owned and operated by the proprietor. Burgers and steaks make up the lion’s share of the lunch menu, though there are other sandwich concoctions there too. If you leave here hungry, you’ve done something wrong. Good food and plenty of it. Wippy ti yi yea, partner.
