For more than two decades, DJD has captivated audiences with soulful music and riveting dance performances. Rooted in jazz, DJD weaves African soul together with rhythm and groove to achieve stage success that has garnered international attention. DJD performs two original productions each year (Spring and Fall) and takes select shows on the road – touring across Canada. Spring performances have become legendary in Calgary as DJD serves up live jazz music with high-energy dance for an annual show at the Max Bell Theatre. The Grand is also a popular venue for DJD, where echoes of famous performers from the past lend authenticity and reverence to the spirited performances.

The School offers more than 75 classes per week in such genres as jazz, tap, modern, hip hop, ballet, West African, funk, and Caribbean – to name just a few! DJD Instructors are top-notch, working with over 1,000 budding dancers of all ages and abilities. There is no time like the present to find your groove!

In a passionate attempt to help kids experience the joy and benefits of music and dance, DJD goes the extra mile to reach young movers and shakers. The DJD Arts-In-Educations program is specifically designed to enhance school programs by integrating movement and dance with other facets of children’s education. This one-of-kind program offers a variety of workshops, a ‘School Touring Show’, and it even offers to furnish schools with ‘Artists in Residence’.
