The Denim Suburban Lounge describes itself with the above three words, and they are well chosen. The owner has been painstaking in choosing the décor, the menu and the entertainment, refusing to create just another neighbourhood pub. Residents nearby have known for years now that there’s no real reason to go downtown, as they have a place just around the corner where they can kick back, relax, and likely run into a few friends. The prices are reasonable, in fact, even on the cheap side, there’s live music on the weekends, acoustic jams on Wednesdays and plenty of space to either mingle with other tables or find a nook of your own. Those in the core just don’t know what they’re missing.
A Great Mix
A lounge that has the feel of a pub, Denim’s modern furnishings are also surprisingly comfortable, and customers of all types immediately feel at home. Bigger than it initially appears, a popular feature of Denim is the side room housing a few coveted tables facing a cozy fireplace and surrounded by flat-screen televisions. The drink menu has a couple of nice surprises, such as the house special Denim Blue Cocktail, which is made with Grey Goose, chilled Triple Sec and frozen blueberries, and the wine list has four decent choices in both red and white (at least three more than most suburban bars). There is also a nice selection of import beers to choose from, including Sol, Grolsch, Negro Modelo, Fish Tale Blonde, Pilsner Urquel and many more.
Sample Something a Little Different.
Denim just goes that little bit further, and its menu is a perfect example. Again, the urban and eclectic combines with familiar faves, such as the 10-inch Granny Smith and Brie thin crust pizza, which is topped with juicy green apples, cracked black pepper, pine nuts and brie. As well as pizza, the lounge also serves salads, burgers, sandwiches and chicken, steak or fish entrees, and the appetizer list has several vegetarian choices.
