This arena began as a dream by local residents. Within a few short years a tenacious group of volunteers managed to bring the arena from concept to functioning facility.

The Big Picture
The East Calgary Twin Arenas Society was formed in 1979 when a group of individuals from seven southeast Calgary communities saw a need for a recreational facility in their area. Over the course of two years, the Society worked hard to rally community support, raise the funds, and get the facility designed and built. Today, East Calgary Twin Arenas serves the great Forest Lawn area, and is home to the Seven Clubs Hockey Program. The facility is a boon for the southeast Calgary athletic community, and a hub for local recreation and clubs.
Facility Features
The East Calgary Twin Arenas is a well-equipped and well-used athletic recreation facility predominantly serving the communities of Forest Lawn & Heights, Alberta Park, Erin Woods, Dover, Pembrook Meadows, and Southview. Built in 1981, the facility has two large ice surfaces with spectator stands, along with eight dressing rooms with showers, and two referee rooms with showers. In the lower lobby there is a concession, and in the upper lobby there is a restaurant and lounge with a viewing area. With a high demand for ice surfaces in the area, East Calgary Twin leaves its ice in year-round to accommodate minor hockey clubs, figure skating and ringette.

East Calgary Twin Arenas is located in the southeast community of Erin Woods, between 36 Street and 52 Street southeast. The best way to access this facility coming from North or South Calgary is to take Deerfoot Trail to Peigan Trail SE, and then 52nd Street to Erin Woods Drive. The arena is next to the easy-to-spot green and white Confederation Co-op warehouse.
