This artist-run media arts resource, production and programming centre, was established in 1979 as Centre Art Video, and incorporated in 1983. The mandate of EMMEDIA Gallery and Production Society is to promote and advance the media arts and to encourage and support independent video, audio and digital media production within the artistic, social and cultural community.
Become a Member
EMMEDIA encourages the development of an independent vision and voice, and the exploration and expression of personal, artistic, social, formal or technical issues and ideas. They support the production of original artistic, educational or documentary materials, whereby the author retains full creative and editorial control and copyright. The centre provides access to broadcast quality video and audio production and post-production facilities. Members get access to the facilities 24 hours a day.
Learn Something New
Emmedia has an active programming schedule throughout the year, including both theoretical and technical workshop and scholarship classes to encourage production and discussion of electronic media. They offer learning to both youth and adults. They also screen and show new works by local media artists as well. Finally, call them to organize a custom class, where you and a few friends can get together to discuss a topic in the media arts that you’re dying to know more about.
