Flamenco is an expressive and impassioned style of dance set to traditional music, generally played with a guitar. The dance is characterized by grace and elegance, rhythm and flowing movements. Today’s form goes back to the 15th century, when it was used to express sorrow and grief during times of strife. It has evolved into many types over the years, but remains a dance that involves intense emotion and powerful positions.
Fineza Flamenco School was founded and is run by one of Canada’s top Flamenco dancers, Annette Morcos. She has studied with the best instructors and has spent significant time in Spain learning the dance’s technicalities and nuances. She brought her knowledge and skills back to Alberta and to her clients, and now spends her time teaching and promoting the dance that encompasses her life. She is also an accomplished Flamenco singer.
There are lessons for all ages at Fienza Flamenco School. Children as young as five years of age can learn this historic dance. Ages five to 10 participate in the Children’s Class. Youths aged 11 to 16 are grouped together, and anyone 17 and older can participate in the Adult Class. Adult classes range from Beginner to Level III. Early registration discounts are available.
