Gunkan serves up dozens of different types of expertly prepared rolls. Their specialty is the Gunkan’s Roll, with soft shell crab, tempura shrimp, asparagus, flying fish egg, avocado, cucumber and mayonnaise all wrapped up in smoked salmon. Choices come as either sushi, sashimi or hand rolls and include selections like the Sea Urchin, Chopped Hamachi and the usuals like tuna and snapper.

Gunkan Sushi House has a variety of tempura and teriyaki dinners available if you like your Japanese cuisine on the warmer side. They also serve up a unique sushi pizza with a crust made from crispy sushi rice. Party platters are available with up to 130 pieces per platter.

A quaint little family style restaurant, you won’t have to worry about sitting on cushions on a floor. They don’t go quite that far to the traditional side of things here. Instead, you will find comfortable seating in a simple environment where the emphasis is on service and presentation. If you aren’t as talented with the chopsticks as you might like, they have a few forks in the back that they’ll be happy to polish up and bring out. They are pretty popular in the neighbourhood and have a pretty steady flow of regular customers who swear by the place.
