An Old Style Drive In
The Inglewood Drive In sits at the corner of 8th Avenue and 12th Street SE, and harkens back to the days when Elvis was on the Hit Parade and it was cool to go cruisin’ in your hot rod. There are places outside to park and go in to eat, or you can drive up to the window and place an order. Inside there are no frills, just a few small tables with wire-backed chairs and not much in the way of decoration, but what they have saved on the extras goes in to making your meal as affordable as possible. The place keeps long hours throughout the day, so you can drop by just about any time you are hungry. Breakfast is served early and consists of eggs, bacon, ham, sausage, and toast. Just step up to the counter and tell the man what you want.
Classic Choices
The lunch menu consists mostly of sandwiches, served either hot or cold. Cold sandwiches on offer include ham, beef, or turkey, garnished with lettuce, tomato, mayo or mustard. Customer favourites include the BLT or the Club House. Hot sandwiches include grilled cheese, served with or without ham or bacon; fried egg, served with ham, bacon, or sausage; and hot dogs, with or without cheese. Dinner specials are usually along the lines of hot turkey, hot beef, veal cutlets, and pork cutlets.

As you might expect at a drive-in, hamburgers are well represented on the menu. You can get single, double, or triple patties, and load it up with your choice of cheese, lettuce, onion, tomato, mushrooms, mayo, and mustard. Fries and onion rings can be ordered as sides. Wash it down with a milkshake, which are available in a variety of flavours including chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, pineapple, rum and butter, cherry, butterscotch, orange, root beer, banana, raspberry, or maple.
