A great place for unusual ingredients if you're into baking. Or, you could just wrap up some of their amazing baklava.

There are many reasons to visit the Kalamata Grocery Store, but the sign outside sums it up pretty well: FETA OLIVES CIGS. First, the feta: go in and ask for five dollars worth and you will be rewarded with a chunk so big you will begin to realize why Safeway could probably remain afloat on its feta profits alone. Second: while there are a wide variety of olives available here in bulk or in jars, the jumbo green olives stuffed with almonds are highly recommended - just don't get them confused with those garlic-stuffed ones on the first date. Third: the cigs.
The Goods
The Kalamata houses a huge range of great Greek and Mediterranean specialties, but its appearance is mainly that of a family-run convenience store. Sure, sometimes there's a little dust on the jars of spaghetti sauce and bags of kitty litter, but there's also baklava, stuffed grape leaves, and fried eggplant at bargain prices. That's the Kalamata experience, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Excellent for summer picnic and tapas fare.
