Operating all the time, anytime, Kids Help Phone is Canada's only toll-free national phone counselling service for kids and youth.
This bilingual, anonymous and confidential phone line is staffed by professional counsellors with backgrounds in social services such as child welfare, children's mental health services and crisis intervention. These compassionate professionals answer upwards of 800 calls a day from urban and rural communities alike.
This is a safe, comforting way for kids (mostly aged 4 to 19) to talk about physical, sexual and emotional abuse, loneliness and depression, school-related problems, family relationships, health and sexuality, pregnancy, alcohol and substance abuse, separation and divorce issues, and suicide.
In 1998, Kids Help Phone answered about 288,000 calls from almost 3,000 communities across Canada.
