A roaring fire, a pint of Kilkenny (or Guinness) and a wee bit of craic is all you need to make this Irish pub a home away from home. This is the third traditional Irish pub from Allan Dixon and Michael Kuzyk and, like Limerick's on Macleod Trail South, this bar and eatery has a whole lot of ambiance and charm.
Look and Feel of an Original Irish Pub
The memorabilia scattered throughout Kilkenny helps to retain the look and feel of an original Irish Pub. Everything from the stained glass ceiling to the bric-a-brac mementos adorning the walls and shelves inspire an old-fashioned warm and friendly feel.
Traditional Irish Favourites
The menu includes a selection of traditional Irish fare along with Canadian pub dishes, and you'll find the prices to be very reasonable. There’s a wide range of appetizers, from mussels to veggie plates, as well as a good selection of sandwiches. Some of the best dishes, however, can be found on the traditional pub fare menu. These Irish favourites include: Irish stew - fresh lamb or beef simmered with potatoes, cabbage and carrots and served with dumplings; steak and mushroom pie served in a flaky crust; and cornish pastie, which includes beef and veggies baked in a pastry and smothered in pan gravy. There’s even haggis for those looking for an extra culinary adventure.
The Sunday Brunch, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., offers a great selection of breakfast and lunch dishes, including freshly made omelettes cooked right in front of you (with the filling of your choice), eggs Benedict, sausages, hash browns, salads, fresh fruit and a selection of desserts.
Outdoors: In the warmer months, enjoy a drink on the outdoor patio.
Weekend Nosh: Brunch and breakfast served on the weekend.
