Dragon City Mall’s Seafood Surprise
Dragon City Mall is perhaps one of the more well known landmarks along Calgary’s tiny version of Chinatown. But before you dismiss the mall as being “mediocre,” it’s best to explore the nooks and crannies of this mall, as tucked away on the second floor is Kingfisher’s Seafood which, if one were to go by street gossip, serves the best calamari.
Don’t Ask for Crabs and Lobster
Kingfisher Seafood serves seafood, but don’t ask for crabs and lobster. The menu more than makes up for the lack of these crustaceans, as they serve salmon, scallop, shrimp, red snapper and sea bass. The hostess will recommend calamari appetizer and prawns and scallops in hot sauce cooked with cream sauce. Other seafood entrees include shrimp tempura and sushi.
Under the Sea
Kingfisher Seafood may make you feel like you’re under the sea, as the interiors are made to look like an aquarium. Windows also give diners a view of Calgary’s Chinatown and the looming Calgary Tower. Kingfisher Seafood can seat about 60 people inside but on fair days they also have an outdoor patio. Prices at Kingfisher Seafood may be a bit pricey for lunchtime, but they also serve half portions, just ask beforehand.
