The space
Size doesn’t matter, although the space is tight, it carries style and utilizes every nook and cranny, while still managing to create an open feel. Milk Tiger Lounge reflects a much needed niche in Calgary for a low key, comfortable and classy environment. The mellow atmosphere offers a perfect spot to take in some jazz music, meet up with friends for a chat, or go on your first or your 50th date.
The idea
The name is inspired by tiger milk, which was the slang for gin during prohibition in the early 19th century. A close knit friendly and accommodating staff, portray a warm vibe. Just ask your server a question and they are happy to recommend or elaborate on any menu item.
The food
Until 11pm Tuesday to Sunday night, a limited but unique selection of eats is available, but nothing too hearty, the focus here is on elegant snacking. A few selections you’ll find on the menu include, chilled avocado and watercress soup, bite sized Chinese steak tartare on cucumber, spaghetti and meatball on a stick and a variety of cheese, meat and bread platters. Tall and short cocktails and martinis offer patrons a variety of choice to wet the whistle.
