Specialty Imported Foods
Mercato is Italian for “market” and this shop certainly qualifies. In addition to its fine coffee and deli offerings, the shop sells an amazing variety of foodstuffs, most of them imported from Italy and other European sources. Here you will find pastas, olives, olive oils, coffees from Illy, Mauro, and Ethical Bean, sauces of all descriptions, balsamic vinegars, truffle oil, and other things. The shop would be happy to put together a basket of such items if you are after a unique, tasteful gift.
A Deli As Well
There is a complete deli on location. The glass-faced counter in the front of the shop is filled with delectable meats and cheeses, many imported from Europe. Take some home or watch them being used in the preparation of a luncheon panini grilled sandwich. A variety of paninis are on the menu, including Italian, pizza, vegetarian, and farmhouse. Each day finds a different featured panini, like beef salami with grilled zucchini, arugula, provolone and emmental cheese. There is also a soup du jour. If a sandwich holds no magic for you, ask about the antipasto platter, which is great for sharing.
And Coffee or Tea Any Time
Whether it is in the morning or later, Mountain Mercato can brew up a hot drink just for you. You can take your cappuccino, espresso, Americano, or latte at the small tables inside the premises, or carry them outside to the small patio in front in good weather. Relax and watch the world go by on Main Street. Coffee is often served with a complimentary dark chocolate morsel from Valrhona on the saucer – a nice touch indeed.
