Newzones Gallery of Contemporary Art represents leading contemporary Canadian and international artists. The gallery opened June 4, 1992, in an old steel plant in Calgary's warehouse district, providing the viewer with a slice of Soho in Calgary. The gallery has successfully developed a strong following for its artists, regionally, nationally and internationally, with an excellent and exciting program of solo, group and thematic exhibitions. In 1997, Newzones Gallery of Contemporary Art built its own free-standing, modern facility, which includes three main galleries, a viewing area, an outdoor sculpture court and offices.
The exhibitions at the gallery include paintings, photography, works on paper and sculpture. They feature new art, focussing on "new to Calgary art," and introduce many new and internationally renowned artists to the local art scene and the public. Newzones is also registered for art consulting, installation, appraisals and art rentals for the film industry.
