Where History Lives is the motto of Nanton, incorporated as a village in 1903, two years before Alberta became a province. Stroll down its historic streets and you will receive a picturesque history lesson. The town's numerous antique stores lend an air of nostalgia, reflecting a fertile past still rooted in this ranching and farming community. Nanton matured into a town in 1907.
The Antique & Art Walk, consisting of independent stores, is a cornucopia of collectibles, local artwork, crafts and native handicrafts. Enter The Emporium and feel its history the upstairs rooms were built during the Second World War to house pilots training at the nearby Vulcan air base. Pick up a map of the antique walk, available in most town stores, and allow at least half a day to wander through Nostalgia Antiques, Western Art and Framing, The Willow Creek Forge Gallery, The Main Street Market, Lorraine's Antiques, Corner Stone Antiques, the Optical Parlor, Cottonwoods, Over the Hill Curio, Settler's Gourmet Coffee & Antiques and Doowah Antiques.
