When Ocean City originally opened in 2000 on Centre Street, they offered both fresh and saltwater fish. When they moved in 2006 to their 16th Avenue location, they began to focus solely on offering saltwater set-ups.
There is always something new at Ocean City, as they receive two to three new shipments weekly. All of the fish are imported from around the world. Some of the unique locations include Australia, Bali, Tonga, Red Sea, Cuba as well as the United States. If sea horses, angels, tangs, triggers, eels and wrasses get you excited, you will be in heaven at Ocean City.
Healthy and Active
The first thing you notice when you look at the fish at Ocean City is how active and healthy they are. This is because Ocean City takes great care to make sure that each fish they sell is in good shape. This starts with a four-step process from the moment they arrive in store, including a quarantine period and thorough inspection. Each animal is eating before it is put up for sale. A specially designed filtration system ensures that the water is clean. Animals are inspected twice daily for health. If a fish does fall ill, it is immediately removed from the tank and put in an individual hospital tank to nurse it back to health and prevent it from infecting others.
