The People
Rocco and Antonietta, owners of Osteria De Medici, certainly have a lot to be proud of.
For one thing, they've been in Calgary for about 21 years and in the same Kensington location since 1990. In a boom-bust city such as ours, you have to serve a pretty addictive bruschetta to keep clientele steady through those tight times. Secondly, they've probably been asked for the secret formulas behind their recipes so many times that they finally decided to publish them in book form. This revered tome, "Antonietta's Classic Recipes" can be purchased directly in the restaurant, as well as at local bookstores.
The Food
Finally, there's the satisfied smiles on their customers' faces. Walk by any day of the week and you will see families, couples and friends having a perfectly delightful time in the relaxed, yet decidedly-sophisticated dining room. If the variety of pasta, veal, steak & seafood dishes on the menu doesn't appeal to you, they'll create any dish that you desire.
Like any couple with such a list of achievements, they are also excellent hosts and manage to cater to each party like guests in their own home. Which, after two decades, I'm sure it practically is.
