Home sweet home
Calgary's Saddledome is home to the Flames of the National Hockey League, the Hitmen of the Western Hockey League, and the Roughnecks of the National Lacrosse League, and also plays host to several other sporting and non-sporting events and concerts throughout the year.

Sporting concerts
The Saddledome officially opened on Oct. 15, 1983. Later, a trend towards facility sponsorship in pro sports led to a partnership and $37 million in upgrades. The newly-refurbished Saddledome opened in the fall of 1995 with its first sponsor, Canadian Airlines. In July of 2000, new sponsors came on board and now the building is referred to as the Pengrowth Saddledome.

Hangin’ at the ‘Dome
The 'Dome, as it is known by Calgarians, seats more than 17,000 and offers a variety of bars and restaurants. The Avison Young Club Buffet is open for mostly larger events and can accommodate 300 people, while Duttons Canadian Lounge opens up two hours before all events, with 16 TVs and two giant screens. There's also the upscale HSBC Saddleroom Restaurant where you can watch the game while you eat or dine at the ‘Dome before an event.

Power scene
If your one of the lucky ones for whom cost does not factor into decisions, you might want to consider a membership at the Executive Club, a luxurious, 188-seat super-suite devoted exclusively to people who want to enjoy events in an atmosphere of uncompromised style and service. Membership in this elbow-rubbing joint will set you back some extra change, but you get tickets to everything from hockey games to concerts and wrestling events.
