The History
Peter’s Drive-In was started over forty years ago by Gus Pieters, a Dutch pastry maker who immigrated to Canada in 1964 after landing with two dimes in his pocket. From its inception, the word on the street was an insistence on consistent quality. Peter’s uses the best fresh ingredients available, keeps its customer service at its highest level, and maintain an extremely high standard of cleanliness. It’s a simple business concept that worked then, and continues to work now, at this drive- in restaurant, even after all this time. Pieters no longer owns the business, but it still operates in the same fashion. It is still “the drive-in you can’t drive by”.

The Menu Is Simple
This is a place for hamburgers. In fact, many people opine that it is THE place for hamburgers. They are large, mouth-watering, and delicious. You can get a single burger, a single cheese burger, a double of each, or a triple of each. Indeed, at one time Peters’ burgers were declared the best burgers in the country by a well-known national magazine. Match them with freshly made fries or onion rings, and you have a feast. Kid-pleasing hot dogs and cheese dogs are also on the menu. Orders can be placed by way of a drive through lane or at a walk-up window. Attached to the property is a plot of land with several picnic tables for an impromptu inner-city picnic.

Don’t Leave Without A Milkshake
Almost as famous as the burgers are the milkshakes turned out by Peters’. On one day in the recent past they served over 4,000 of them. They are size large, and only size large. You choose the flavour. It can be any combination of banana, blackberry, blueberry, bubblegum, butterscotch, cherry, chocolate, choco-spice, coconut, cranberry, creme de menthe, crushed maple walnut, grape, lemon, licorice, lime, mango, maple, marshmallow, orange, Oreo, peach, pina colada, pineapple, raspberry, root beer, rum & butter, strawberry, vanilla, or watermelon. Yummy.
