Just north of the busy intersection where John Laurie Boulevard meets McKnight Boulevard is a tiny parking lot with a tiny strip mall - just three businesses long. One of those businesses is Mona’s Pizza and Pasta. Even with its bright yellow sign, it’s not hard to miss. Out front is a small sidewalk patio where you can sit with your pizza and Coke on a summer’s night and watch a game of soccer being played in the field across the street. This little restaurant, tucked away in a residential area, is a hidden treasure.
Buy pizza by the slice or order in a whole pie. Delivery in the immediate area is free, with a small surcharge for the rest of the city. Mona’s makes some of the best pizza in Calgary, and their two most popular pan pizzas include the donair, which is topped with sweet sauce, curls of spicy meat, onion and tomatoes, and the house special - a fully-loaded, meat lover’s pizza.
Take Mona Home
Mona’s homemade pizza, spicy wings and hot pasta are popular with local residents who often stop by on their way home from work or school to pick up some dinner. When it comes to pasta, the spicy, cheesy lasagne is hands-down the best seller. Stop by Mona’s to sample their menu. The eatery may be small, but the variety of flavours is big enough for any appetite.
