With all of the shops in Shawnessy you might find yourself needing some refreshments before you can keep up the shopping marathon. If you find this is the case, then head over to Plaka Greek Taverna. They are a bit tucked away, but you will find them in the corner of the strip, just west of the Zellers. Owned and run by ex-pat Greeks, you can be assured that the recipes are traditional and the service is splendid.
A Flair For Lunch
Regardless of whether you work near the Taverna or if you are a consummate shopper on the hunt for the next bargain, you will appreciate what’s cooking here. For a light snack you may want to try out the Saganaki, a decadent pan fried cheese flambé, or maybe the vegetarian dolmades. The lunch time customer favourites include Plaka’s famous lamb, beef, chicken, gyros or vegetarian souvlaki with pita.
Dinners For Two
The quaint atmosphere, checked tablecloths and the smiling host give this little restaurant an intimate atmosphere that is perfect for a dinner date before a show at the nearby theatres or even some quiet conversation with a couple of your closest friends. Try out their Arni Psito, a rack of lamb slowly roasted in a mustard lemon sauce, or maybe the Gemisti Kota, a stuffed chicken breast with feta and spinach.
