Play is a two-fold business venture, a wholesale music distributor, and a national retailer of music, movies, and various related entertainment accessories. In Calgary there are two Play retail locations, one in Market Mall and one in TD Square. On the distribution side, Play operates on-line and out of a Calgary’s southeast location, and serves as a music distributor for businesses throughout North America. Play is Calgary owned and operated and was founded in 2003.

What distinguishes this music retailer from its competitors is its massive collection of music - all genres, classic to contemporary and everything in between. The store also sets itself apart by offering a choice selection of new vinyl. Also available at Play retail stores is a broad selection of DVDs - classics as well as new release movies. Play is mentioned in numerous ‘Best’ columns, including the Best place to buy vinyl according to a 2007 Fast Forward Magazine survey, and best music store in Kamloops by readers of Off-Centre Magazine for the past two consecutive years.
