Diner culture
This not-so-typical, licensed diner is part of the Roadking Travel Centre, a truck stop offering a variety of amenities for travellers. You come here not only for eats, but also to experience the big-rig culture. Included in the vicinity is a motel, games room, dry cleaner, coin laundry, truck wash and a Tim Horton’s. As you walk into the establishment, the old-school booths and cafeteria-style tables resemble a scene from the 70s. The menu is short and sweet and the waitresses seem to fill the role of your favourite auntie.
Handy Pit Stop
Shifter’s Restaurant & Bar is a hang out for all sorts, from families on the move to truckers looking for a hot meal. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and makes a good lunch or after work stop for those working in the industrial area of town. They have been in business since 1989, and there is both a restaurant and a lounge depending on the type of atmosphere you are looking for.
Hardy Hot Meals
There is just about everything on the menu here, and it is all available 24 hours a day. The restaurant has tables and booths for relaxing and enjoying your meal. Other menu offerings include stir fries, chicken wings, salads and classic items like liver and onions and fish and chips. Breakfast goes all day. Fill up on the eggs and pork chops or eggs and steaks.
The Lounge
The lounge at Shifter’s has a full bar with a good selection of beer and cocktails, so you are sure to find your favourite drink here. If you are feeling hungry, you can choose off the full restaurant menu or opt for bar snacks like nachos or ribs.
