Ten Thousand Villages is a well-known national organization that imports fair-trade goods from around the world. They have sourced out talented artisans from more than 100 ethnic groups from around the world and have brought their works and wares to Canada. The craftspeople are paid a decent wage for their work and a percentage of the shop’s profits are used to further support the artisans in their home countries. It's kind of like home decor with a cause. It helps establish business relationships between merchants and artisans and gives dignity and hope to many!
Real, Fair Trade
Ten Thousand Villages is a member of the International Fair Trade Association (IFAT), a global network of Fair Trade Organizations. This organization helps to ensure that disadvantaged producers are being compensated fairly in order to make a living. IFAT links and promotes fair trade organizations and also speaks out for greater justice in world trade.
