SAIT Hotspot
The Gateway Restaurant & Bar is the only restaurant / bar situated on campus at Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT). The restaurant is your average campus eatery: sandwiches, burgers, pizza served up quick at a reasonable price. The bar is noteworthy because of its large capacity (room for 450), and because The Gateway plays host to a wide variety of concerts each year.
Musical Highlights
The Gateway has a reputation for showcasing a variety of bands and acts from a wide spectrum of genres including comedy, rock, heavy metal, pop, punk, alternative, reggae, and the list goes on. Some acts continue on, playing the college circuit, while other performers that have played at The Gateway have gone on to achieve great fame. For instance, The Gateway has played host to: Our Lady Peace, Theory of a Deadman, Hinder, Dog the Bounty Hunter, Vanilla Ice, Soundclash, Trailer Park Boys, and so on.
Catering to Students
This restaurant / bar is all about catering to students. The food is not fancy, but it’s tasty and cheap. Beer is a mainstay – served up with every special. On the menu expect soup, salads, wraps, burgers, pizza, pasta and tacos. For those with a hearty appetite there is steak, salmon and an all time favourite – Spolumbo’s Sausage on a bun. Recently, the restaurant has also started serving breakfast.
