Go Up at the Uptown
Located on the second level of the Uptown Stage and Screen, the Marquee Room took its cue from its landlord and continued in the tradition of providing local and international artists a unique space to demonstrate their talents. Music is the muse here, and regulars revel in the club’s always-solid weekly line-up, which includes DJs spinning in every genre imaginable. The dance floor grooves to the beats of soul, disco, psychedelic, garage, electronic, indy and just plain-old good music from Tuesdays until Fridays. Saturdays feature live bands that can usually be termed “alternative”, and are chosen because they rock in their own individual ways.
Specials That Are Truly Special
Tuesdays celebrate the letter “T”, with 10 per cent off everything, and the T&T combo is on offer, consisting of Tiger Beer and Tamarind, which of course comes with a tasty samosa to dip. The choice of fare is slightly limited, as the only other option comes in the form of a hot dog, but between the two most come away more than adequately satisfied.

Expect the latest in hip fashion, with plenty of trendy layers on the bodies of the patrons at the Marquee, who are quite often musicians and members of the arts community there to support each other on the road to recognition. The future is happening right here and right now, and it just so happens it’s a pretty fun place to be.
