Do you want to go faster?
For those who just can't seem to quench their need for speed, how about a few turns on the fastest ice on earth at Calgary's Olympic Oval, a world-class speed-skating and ice sports facility. Several international speed-skating records have melted at the Oval thanks to excellent ice conditions and Calgary's thin mountain air. The Oval, part of Calgary's 1988 XV Olympic Winter Games legacy, was the first covered speed-skating facility in North America and still rates among the world's best. The Oval is also home to two international size rinks that are used for hockey, short track and other events.

World class & recreation
Today, the Oval hosts a variety of world-class speed-skating competitions as well as recreational skating. It is not uncommon for a pleasure skater to rub blades or exercise alongside one of the world's many elite athletes who use the facility for training. Each year, as speed-skating's competitive season comes to a close, the Oval welcomes public skaters to lace up the blades for a trip on the world's fastest pond.

Rent some fun!
If you don't own a pair hockey skates or you want to try to cut some ice on a pair of them funny-looking speed skates, the Oval will get you laced up with rentals.
