There’s a saying at the Twisted Element: “Coming out was hard enough. Going out shouldn’t be.” Providing a friendly, welcoming environment in which to shake a little booty, the Twisted Element claims to be Calgary’s largest gay nightclub. Boasting a large dance floor and DJs that spin four nights a week upstairs, the Twisted Element encompasses a lounge on the main floor for just hanging out, and includes a wireless Internet connection and a food menu.
It can be a bit of a drag…
Patrons at the Twisted Element enjoy a variety of events throughout the week, including contests and drink specials. Wednesdays and Sundays are Karaoke nights and you can belt out tunes any time after 8 p.m. and 7 p.m. respectively. Saturday means it’s time for the Twisted Element Variety Show, open to anyone who is daring enough. Things really kick off Thursdays with a sexy shorts contest, cheap shooters and Krazay Steve spinning records. The weekends also include Krazay Steve on the tables.
Annual charity events
The Twisted Element plays host to a variety of fun charitable events throughout the year. They have raised heaps of money for AIDS Calgary and have Pride Parade events and a New Year’s Eve galas. Grab a fun or sexy outfit and come to the Halloween Ball. No matter what the event, the club is easily accessed as the Twisted Element offers free parking after 5 p.m. in the lot next door.
Tip: Every May long weekend they hold their annual ‘White Party, considered one of the best parties of the year.
