The Big Picture
There are a few good reasons to visit Black Diamond – just a 30-minute scenic drive south of Calgary. First because it’s scenic – in fact, on the way there you can stop and check out the legendary ‘Big Rock’ mysteriously deposited in a field between Okotoks and Black Diamond. The second is this cozy little bistro situated in the heart of this quaint Alberta community. Wild Horse Bistro is not your usual small town eatery – this one has a unique menu that features healthy, organic, delicious food.

If you ask the chef and owner of this Bistro how she plans her menu, she’ll tell you it depends on the season, her mood, and the ingredients available from local farmers and producers on any give day. At times you’ll see game on the menu, sometimes the hot dish is salmon. Curry may be the spice of the day, or chipotle might be the hot offering. For the most part, this Bistro is known for its Big Rock Elk Burger, and Highwood Valley beef burger, and plenty of other tasty dishes prepared fresh thanks to local producers.
