Something for Everyone
Nestled in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, in Canada's oldest and possibly most-beautiful national park, is the town of Banff. Banff Townsite is, without any doubt, a tourist haven with several hotels, motels, restaurants, bars and, of course, souvenir shops. A variety of museums and historical sites share Banff's rich history, dating back to 1883, when three Canadian Pacific Railway employees stumbled upon the now famous hot springs that led to the towns creation.

What to Do
Among the most notable historical locations are the Cave & Basin National Historic Site, the Banff Park Museum National Historic Site, the Buffalo Nations Luxton Museum and the Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies. For those a bit more adventurous, there's a heart-pumping hike up Sulphur Mountain where you will be rewarded with a spectacular view of Mount Rundle and the Spary and Bow Valleys. Most prefer to ride the gondola up the mountain and enjoy a meal in the restaurant on the summit, but hikers can ride the gondola down for free. Afterwards, you can soothe your soul in the Upper Hot Springs mineral pool. You can even partake in two of Canada's past times - hockey and curling - at the Banff Recreation Centre.

Must See
Bow River falls are a must see while staying in Banff and the best part is they are free. The town's crown jewel is the Canadian Pacific's Banff Springs Hotel, which personifies the Victorian era with its elegance and grandeur. If you can afford it, bring your golf clubs and take a trip around Banff Springs Stanley Thompson golf course, rated one of the top-10 scenic courses in the world.
